Big news from Glen Helen. . . USA BMX (the American Bicycle Association) has teamed up with Glen Helen Raceway and will be building a full-scale BMX track for both competition and BMX practice days. The new track, being built as we type this, is replacing the Glen Helen StadiumX track. Lori Bryant, Glen Helen Track Manager, will be working with Mike Redmen from the Lake Perris BMX organization; Mike will be the BMX track manager for Glen Helen. The new BMX facility will use the stadiums lighting, providing for night events as well.
This collaboration is a natural. BMX has always been a springboard to motocross. Having a BMX track at the world-famous Glen Helen Raceway Park adds an addition dimension to the facility, as it now will host BMX as well as rc controlled vehicles, motocross (on both the National and REM tracks), trucks, cars, buggies and quads (the Lucas Oil Off Road track), hill climbs, enduros and grand prix events. BMX rounds out the full complement of off-road activities available at Glen Helen Raceway Park!
The track is expected to be completed within the next six weeks. We will post up information about hours of operation and events as they are finalized! It is projected that practice days will be Fridays and Saturday evenings. To get a great feel for USA BMX, we encourage you to visit usabmx.com on the Internet!
